Discover Rum Bucket Bar And Grill

Walking into Rum Bucket Bar And Grill feels like stepping into a laid-back Florida hangout where nobody’s rushing you out the door. The spot sits at 5150 Buckingham Rd, Fort Myers, FL 33905, United States, and it has that easygoing neighborhood vibe that locals tend to guard closely. I first stopped by after a long afternoon near the river, and what stood out immediately was how relaxed everything felt, from the staff’s attitude to the steady hum of conversation around the bar.

The menu leans heavily into comfort food with coastal flair. Think burgers, wings, seafood baskets, and sandwiches that arrive fresh off the grill rather than rushed through a kitchen. One of the servers explained how they prep several items in-house each morning, which lines up with what the National Restaurant Association reports about diners valuing freshness and transparency more than ever. You can taste that difference in something as simple as their fried fish sandwich, where the coating stays crisp without being greasy. It’s not fancy plating, but it’s honest food that knows exactly what it wants to be.

Drinks are a big part of the experience here, and the bar program reflects that. While the name hints at tropical inspiration, the offerings balance classic beers with fun mixed drinks that don’t take themselves too seriously. A bartender once told me they rotate specials based on what regulars actually order, a real-world example of listening to customer behavior rather than following trends blindly. That approach mirrors broader hospitality research showing that repeat customers drive the majority of restaurant revenue, so catering to locals just makes sense.

What really keeps people coming back is the atmosphere. During one visit, a group at the next table was celebrating a birthday, and within minutes, half the bar was involved. Moments like that explain why online reviews often mention friendliness before food. According to data shared by Yelp, restaurants with consistent service mentions in reviews tend to outperform competitors in customer retention, and that rings true here. Staff members remember faces, ask how your day’s been, and genuinely seem interested in the answer.

There’s also a practical side worth noting. Parking is straightforward, seating is flexible for both small groups and larger parties, and the location makes it an easy stop whether you’re a Fort Myers local or just passing through. I’ve seen families come in for early dinners and later watched the crowd shift toward a more adult evening scene, which shows how adaptable the place is without losing its core identity.

That said, it’s fair to acknowledge limitations. This isn’t a white-tablecloth destination, and if you’re hunting for experimental cuisine or ultra-quiet dining, you might feel out of place. The kitchen sticks to proven favorites, and the noise level can climb during busy hours. Still, for many guests, that energy is part of the charm rather than a drawback.

Overall, the draw here is consistency. The food tastes the way you expect, the drinks are poured generously, and the environment encourages you to stay awhile. In an industry where restaurants come and go quickly, places like this earn trust by showing up the same way every day. That reliability, backed by solid reviews and real customer experiences, is what turns a casual diner into a local staple serving island-style comfort food and good company without any pretense.

Our waitress was Synthia" she was great.. we started with appetizers" the pretzel with beer cheese and the loaded potato skins were great! The fresh salad was good as well...we had the Saturday special of "prime rib" wow! Fork tender and so good!with peppery delicious Auju"on the side" we also had the teriyaki chicken bowl" which was delicious! The chicken was tender and they were so accommodating for my no onion request ( Thank you) though we were full we couldn't pass up desert and tried the key lime pie " good but the star was the Cinnabon cheesecake which was to die for! Yummy!!! Synthia never let our drinks get low and had such a great personality which just added to the dining experience" we sat indoors by the windows overlooking the stage and courtyard area which was nice because we arrived before the night got too busy" great spot for date night for sure!" .. • Good menu options. The fish sandwiches were thick and moist. The hamburger was juicy and cooked perfectly. The side salad was huge. The pretzel sticks and beer cheese was great. The fries had a little extra coating and came in a cute fryer basket. The coconut cheesecake was amazing. The atmosphere both inside and out was pleasant and comfortable. We sat inside as it was 95 degrees out and the large windows still allowed us to feel like we were outside.

  • Overview: 5/5 This is a neat place off the beaten path in Fort Myers. We made a quick overnight trip down and stumbled upon this place. Ambiance : 5/5 It has unique babbling streams, water features and what looked like a beer garden for live entertainment seating. It had a large covered open porch with live entertainment. The seating arrangement allow for both large and small parties. It had large TVs for the sports enthusiasts and allows pets on the outside deck. The bathrooms were super clean. Food/Drink 5/5 I ordered a Caesar salad with grilled chicken. It was fresh and came as I ordered it with cheese, croutons and dressing on the side. I like to control my salad mixology (lol). My wife had the BLT with fries that were crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. She said it was one of the best she ever had. Lots of bacon, tomatoes were good and bread was toasted perfectly. We did not have any hard liquor drinks or beer however the selection looked good. Service : 5/5 Waitress was pleasant and got everything right with our order. Conclusion : I liked this place for both the atmosphere and food.

  • First time here and we enjoyed our experience. Food was good and fairly priced in lite of where food costs have gone. Very bright dinning room with high ceilings, kind of felt like a dinning room at a moose lodge or a camp. Two bars available, one inside and one outside. Live music outside on the deck. Service was excellent. Grounds include a sandbox, stage, and plenty of parking. Service was excellent! By the way pretzel app was excellent and so was the fish dip ( chips served with fish dip were just okay, would prefer saltines). All the entrees were a solid 4 out of 5. First time I ever had a Howdy drink… different but refreshing.

  • This restaurant is a very nice and clean establishment. The staff are friendly and hard working. The atmosphere here is great. I would come here again for sure. The food is real good. I had the Seafood Boil Special and the wife had Mango Shrimp skewers which she liked. Our friends had a Steak dinner and they liked it very much. We dined here on 10/11/25.

  • Old Florida at its finest. We love the beautiful patio vibe outside where they have the boardwalks, many picnic tables, bar and band. Beautiful at sunset with an “in the bayou” meets the old Florida keys feel about it. The inside dining looked fine, but feels more “elderly” with a dated moose lodge atmosphere. It’s honestly like two different venues. What saris out to us was the exceptional, friendly service. We must have had 4 different servers stop by to check on us, in addition to our own Danielle… who was wonderful. The seafood buffet was great value for money and the cocktails were tasty and strong. It’s the kind of place you want to go to with friends for an easy laid back night out.
